Last year I had ordered a book from an Amazon marketplace seller located in England for a Xmas present - they sent the wrong book. When I contacted them, they wanted me to pay all the return shipping costs, which they would refund AFTER they received & inspected the book - to make sure I was telling the truth I guess. I shot off a heated email to Amazon CS - which promptly refunded the full purchase price - and advised me I "should" return the book, but left it totally up to me. I still have the book, because the seller never responded to my request for a pre-paid RMA label to return it.
