well, i just stumbled upon something great--- the kindle does in fact keep track of all the original files md5sums

/test/diags/factory/rootfs_md5_list

so i just verified that my showlog and ServerConfig are pristine.

so it is plausible that even if you restore to factory fresh, they can blacklist

however i am now even more suspecting that i must have changed my root password.

because my /etc/shadow md5 does not match what it should be

so my theory is, if i can just change my root password back to what amazon thinks it should be, or if somehow here could just post their /etc/shadow for 3.1, i will be good to go

EDIT-- OK. i am running a script now to check if indeed any other files have been changed....
