There is one more argument in favor of "Swipe": Footnotes.
On the PRS-T1, you open a footnote by tapping its greyed number, and the dictionary by tapping-and-holding on a word.
So basically all three possibilities are used: swiping for page turns, tapping for footnote, and holding for dictionary functions.
