I liked the HP movies. IMHO Goblet of Fire was the weakest of the series because of things that were added which weren't in the book, the very extended dragon battle comes to mind. In the book it was pretty much "Accio Firebolt!" then a bit later "Hahha! I got your egg!". The additions squeezed out good stuff like the Quidditch game and everything about veelas (the boys are all a-swoon because of *magic*, they didn't show the viewers that!) and so much more. The big entrances of the students from the other schools to Hogwarts didn't measure up to what my BGA (Brain Graphics Adapter, the most advanced video processor ever.) had conjured up.
The beginning of it spent a lot of time quickly jumping from bit to bit, whiplash leaping across great swaths of important story that got hacked away by the scriptwriters.
As for the books, I didn't start on them until the 7th was out, then I blasted through them all in two weeks.

*checks on some other series I'm waiting for the next book* bleah, nothing new - back to reading Anne and Todd McCaffrey's third pass Pern books, and waiting for the next Harry Dresden book.
I don't want to go back to reading Anita Blake's werewolf und vampire porn adventures...
