I haven't had many problems with my kobo wifi reading kobo books, but pdfs and text files are a different matter... and it's merely due to small memory and a slow processor... would upgrade to a touch but I dunno if it would be any better... avoiding the vox all together as there are better tablets out there.
as for software (kobo for windows) issues, none, though would prefer an option to remove bookmarks from read and closed books...
customer service is slow to answer but they do answer... by email.
