I'm beginning to wonder if they pulled a Sony as far as design goes. Sony has long been notorious for separating their design teams by divisions so that they rarely, if ever, communicate with each other. This often results in a lack of common features across platforms and devices and occasionally a reinventing of the wheel.

It is almost like the Fire FW designers were not in the same building or even the same town as the Kindle E Ink FW designers. And the Touch FW designers must have been located on the Moon! Amazon should take a long look at the Kindle for iPad app and say this is really good, so let's implement as much of this into the other apps and readers as possible. And the flagship Fire should have the same major, popular features as the Kindle E Inks.

It might be too that Amazon rushed too much to beat the competition. Kobo and B&N both released their similar devices within a few weeks of the Fire. Perhaps a lot of planned features wound up on the cutting room floor for the sake of meeting their rushed release date. I hope these get put into future FW.
