My personal recommendation:

Take the 650.

Reasons:

-It doesn't have the glitch with the touchscreen (freezing; auto-scrolling though pages)
-same cost - higher qualitiy of hardware (case, metal, look and feel)
-You can be sure to be able to use PRS+ (which I very, very recommend!)
- if the lack of WiFi dones't count for you, there is at least no downside having the 650
- if the possibility of having a rooted gadged doesn't count, stay with the solid firmware of the 650

If Sony had acted different in the past concerning updates and after-sales-service I would say you could be sure that Sony will fix the obvious problems with the T1. But I do not trust them (based on my experience with this brand).
