The item has arrived now so this is moot, but just for the record:
When you order something from amazon.co.uk, you'll only be called if:
a) You have ordered something very large that is being sent via a specialist courier - something the size of a fridge for example and they need to arrange delivery
b) Something goes wrong with your delivery and the carrier that they have shipped it with requests the phone number. Some forms of delivery (e.g. with the regular post - Royal Mail) don't require that the sender put the recipient's phone number on the package(s).
In the absolute worst case scenario, your order should be returned to Amazon and the price you paid should be refunded if it can't be delivered.
