I have tried backing up the Reader, reformatting the internal memory, then copying all my folders back--but this has had no noticeable effect on loading times. So I'm assuming I don't have any corruption in the database. I have more than 10% of internal memory free, so I can mark that off the list as a possible issue.

I am now in the process of moving some of my larger PDF files off of the main memory onto an SD card, to see if that will make any difference. vxf, you mentioned that not all SD cards are created equal, so I'm guessing you have really noticed a difference in loading times depending on the speed of the card? Right now I am just using an old card I had lying around, but I may invest in a new one. What speed do you recommend?

Thanks to those of you who identified annotations as a possible culprit. I do a great deal of highlighting and annotating while I read, so I think the next step for me will be to export some of my annotations and see the results of that.
