Slowness might also be caused by a bad ebook. When ScalyFreak posted about slowness on the 950, I was having similar issues on my 650. It would take 5+ minutes to start up and what felt like 30 seconds to go to the home screen from a book. I *think* it got fixed when I ran Sigil to check a book that was crashing my reader. After I did that check, and without uploading the book to the reader, everything sped up. (I have Calibre setup to auto-update meta tags.)
