Thanks, that may be a solution. The present keyboard may be a bit too cluttered. The most common symbols are placed above the keyboard, further reducing the screen size. The iPad gets around that by having 3 keyboard screens; one qwerty, one for numbers and common symbols, and one for less-frequently used symbols. The keyboard native to the smaller Fire has two screens, one qwerty, and one for symbols & numbers. Both the Fire and the iPad keyboards omit the four directional arrows, which is something I'm not pleased about, but have learned to live with.
It may be that my hands are just too large for easy typing on a 7" screen, or it may be that with time I could get used to it.
