How do you know you would have a better experience with 1 GB of RAM? In fact, you have no idea whether this would affect performance at all. Is 1GB of ram with single channel memory running at 667 Mhz really that much better than 512 MB of dual channel memory running at 1066 Mhz on iOS?

And do you also complain that Android gives you cheaper components because you get a single core GeForce ULP GPU rather than the vastly superior dual core PowerVR SGX 543?

If nothing else, I think this gripping post demonstrates why marketing people shy away from focusing on specs.
