Good idea. I used to do exactly that.

Now, I just have it add the tag working when adding any books and I start my library up with a restriction that only shows my Finished books. When I want to smooth out the unfinished (working) books I simply switch the restricted to dropdown to "working". This causes me to see only books that need to be "worked" before being switched to the Finished view.
