The Kobo Touch fits your budget but is cheap and nasty IMO.

Maybe a Kindle Keyboard / K3. I wouldn't touch the new Kindle models. Also cheap and nasty.

Personally I'd get a T1. Sony, Android and hackable. The only caveat is it's still a bit buggy.
