My maternal granddad went to the Mexican army school and as a result he was engaged in the army for 5 years. He fought in the
Cristero war as lieutenant and left the army for good after his contract expired.
His father-in-law was an army general. He fought in the
Mexican revolution.
Nobody else in my known family followed a military career, although sometimes I wonder if I should.
Of course I did my mandatory one year military service assigned to a reserve cavalry unit. But I was never called (not even for exercises) so I guess that doesn't count.
