Once they finally posted the proper update I got busy and didn't get a chance to test it until today.
Overall it seems to be an improvement. I don't use the wifi on the reader, so have no idea if that has changed at all. Screen updates feel slightly faster, and the touch responses seem to be a little better as well. (At least, since the update it hasn't missed any of my swipes...). Font rendering is definitely different. Things appear bolder and much darker. I can finally use the sans-serif fonts which were far too light before. I'm pretty happy with this update.
