i agree that it is a great device, but probably for school, it is a great supplement, not the main device. I bought a cheap nook color ($149) and did the SD card "root" and I got it just for studying. I use it to store flashcards on, and notes for study for my anatomy classes (I'm in massage school) and it is great for that, after a bit of a search to find the best programs to use for note taking. That said, I do most of my set up of my notes on my mac, then sync it with my Nook.

And I'm an English professor in my other life, and I do need my laptop for my other work--research, writing, etc.

Still, I LOVE the NC, and am so glad I got it. It was such a pleasure to take that light little device with me this weekend when I traveled, instead of my MacBook, and I was able to study and then read too, as well as check my email, etc.
