1) Serious competition - Despite their attempt to move down to a more generally affordable price point (versus their earlier stance as a premium reader, with matching price tag), every major touch-based e-reader in the US is less expensive (Amazon - 99/129, Nook - 99 (within the next couple weeks) and refurbs at 79, Kobo - 129). Their market presence in the US leaves something to be desired, and being more expensive than the next most expensive reader by 30 bucks doesn't help anything.

2) Poor sales (likely due to the above).

3) Luring in hesitant buyers who already own Sony products.

4) Poor word of mouth due to the stability issues.

The old models were always way too pricey for me, but now having recently gotten a PRS-350 secondhand... I think their old models are more desirable than the T-1. And I can't help but think that they know that too.
