I find it just a little surprising you haven't noticed this before, as it has always been the case.
And depriving Sony of your £'s won't have much effect, as I think you'll find it's standard for most of the big electronic groups, at least. Did you never buy a CD, back in the day, or perhaps you always check the £/$ position on every product you buy ?

I'm sorry to say I don't think Sony is the only big bad ogre out there doing it... It's the market, innit.
