OMG it is amazing that I have not tripped that bug.

I use a similar folder structure (Authors_A)

Code:

Authors_{author_sort[0]}/{author}/

As a work around:
Change all Unknown to (the word) Unknown (or Authors Unknown)
(the first is probably a blank value that only displays as Unknown)
