Because I'm highly mobile, and after being so for long enough, it killed my reading.

I hate getting rid of my books. But when you're confined to a suitcase, well... you can only justify carrying so many books. So I would up with a handful of books I'd read a million times over, occasionally dumping them in storage when I had the chance but sometimes it was over a year between stop-offs.

That is a really crappy system. Reading became a huge inconvenience. So my reading dwindled. I'd heard of ereaders but I'd never seriously considered getting one.

Then I saw one. That screen. I was just... perfect. For some reason I had imagined it sucking as much to read on as a tablet screen. I'm not sure why - I'd just never seen one in person.

That made me want one. So I got one. And it was good.
