That is an interesting point, and it might explain why the original Nook Color won't get NetFlix. On the other hand, the NetFlix application is available to almost all devices on the open Android Market so I can't see it being a significant barrier.
The NetFlix HD that the Nook Color 2 is getting, though, is a whole different beast (going so far as to require a TI OMAP 4 processor). It is pretty amazing that with all the competition out there, Barnes & Noble is the one to release the first mobile NetFlix HD device.
You have to hope that Barnes & Noble understands a lot of the appeal of the original Nook Color is the
option (not that most people actually do it...) of converting the device to a full tablet. To squander all that community goodwill at this point seems crazy, but large organizations rarely tend to be rational.
