Is the reduced NC or upcoming one a possibility? I want to know if the Nook Tablet will let you sideload apps. Then I might consider it, but I don't like B&N's user interface from when I spent a day playing with an NC. Funnily enough, when I was looking at the NT leaks last night, the fiance freaked out a little. "I don't like the Nook!" (We just played with it and the Flyer in Best Buy) "Don't get it!" - "It's $50 cheaper than the Flyer and has almost as good specs, though I'm not thrilled with B&N's UI or needing to root it. Plus, I'd get it more than a month before the Flyer." - "Well, I still don't like it!"

He forgets - it's mine, not his. I'll be curious to see what comes out of the Nov. 7 press conference. If I could sideload apps, I think then I'd go for the Nook Tablet, and consider rooting in the future, once those kinks are worked out. Rooting makes me nervous, so I prefer to get most functionality without needing to do it. Come on, B&N, open up some!
I don't mind the wait. The Kindle Fire isn't out yet. They picked up the Coby today around 3PM so it's on it's way to Kentucky which is just a state above me as I live in North East Tennessee. I've got a tracking number to keep an eye on when it gets there.

If you want the HTC Flyer go for it. $50 isn't all that much more. That's around the amount I have to add to get the Kindle Fire. You want something you are going to be happy with not settled for. It doesn't hurt to splurge once in awhile. If you are use to an open tablet getting a closed one might not be best.

I don't think anything is wrong with the NC or the new NT I've only heard good things about them. Personally after having a Coby in my hand I wouldn't get a Coby tablet unless it was alot cheaper. The Nook Color is heavy though which is why I don't see me getting one even with the price reduced.
