I don't know if I'd say it isn't very good, just different than what Discworld morphed into. Even Pratchett doesn't recommend it as a starting point.

The good thing about Discworld is that you can start just about anywhere. I tend to read them in random order, in that whatever I pick up from my wife's collection, I read.
