Calibre - calibre

Non-technical issue

After a year of using calibre, I found myself today in a kind of strange situation.

I've until now, only referred to calibre in writing -mostly in forums - but I was talking with a co-worker today - a book buff, as myself - and I recommended him calibre. Well, suddenly I didn't know how to pronounce it. Is it:

a) like the US caliber? or
b) more like the spanish calibre - like hombre?

And, by the way, what would be the right way to write it?

a) calibre
b) Calibre

Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't know these answers but if not, probably a good idea to get this settled once and for all.
