I haven't used my poor DXG since the day I got my K3 almost a month ago - it's just so much easier to read with this darker font.

Well it is possible but it depends on you if it is simple or not. It was simple for me. Follow the link in my previous post about having 3.x firmwares on kindle DXG. This also allows choosing kindle 3's fonts. The process is very safe as it installs a brick proof kernel first. You can always reinstall the firmware back from usb port if you mess with the firmware files.
