You know, the tablet market is taking the wrong approach in my opinion. They're treating these devices like smartphones, instead of laptop replacements. As a result, these tablets become overpriced niche products. Laptops don't have that problem. Just look at the large variety within a given product line.

Why isn't an HP producing a half dozen or more tablets ranging in price from $199 to $599 and higher? Put stock Android on these devices and let Google handle the OS. That has tremendous value to customers and would save these companies a lot of time and money in developing and maintaining their own OS/UI.

HP is very successful with laptops. They could have that same success with tablets if they took the same approach.
