Landscape is why you need split keyboards. It's more of an issue in that mode, but even portrait on anything bigger than a 7" tablet is pain with the stock keyboard. As it is, I find I can be more efficient with one even on the Kobo as I don't need to reach over into the middle of the screen for some of the more commonly used keys (t, r, f, v, c) in typing.
