ok, embarassing but I'll answer myself, as I've found out how (not difficult actually, but I'll say it here in case somebody else needs it). From the bookmark tabm, select "show all bookmarks". You will get a windw from which you can remove current bookmarks (and also add folders). Quite functional, actually, though it looks like you cannot edit a bookmark, only remove it and then put it in again.
