I'm going to be stalking the FedEx site today. The Duo is on its way!! Yippee!! Of course, since the Duo is coming from GA, the status change to "shipped" gave me only a day's notice. Now, that's a good thing, BUT I couldn't order the system media, which contains the Win7 install cd, until it shipped and the service tag # was available, so the Duo will be here a few days before the discs, which means I can't do a clean Win7 install until later this week. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, it just throws a wrench in my OCD-induced "new computer checklist".
Okay, I'm rambling in a totally manner. Sorry 'bout that. So ON TOPIC - only a little way into Death Masks but it's starting out with a bang! I've noticed in this one that Butcher seems to have eased off a little on the rehashing of previous books. The explanations of previous events aren't as down-bogging (totally not an actual word/phrase but I'm having trouble finding words today) as they seemed to be in books 2-4. So yeah, as much as I loved the previous books, I'm already digging this one more.

oh well
i pretty much agree with your assessments and attribute that to jim's learning curve as he wrote each of the successive books.
imho, starting with turn coat and then including changes and ghost story he's got the formula figured out and those 3 are the best yet and pretty close to equal in their enjoyment level and interest level (i like all 3 pretty much equally) and i liked each of the preceeding 10 books, each a little bit more than the previous one (and i started by liking storm front a lot)
