Didn't i just state the opposite? I wrote the silver/white color makes the device look cheapish, not black.

And besides, you're mixing up and oversimplifying things. You've mixed up finish and color, beige and white, impression of quality and adherence to fads.

Beige was *the* cheap color, not white. Apple hasn't made white fashionable, it made white lucite and glossy finish fashionable (and they weren't the first to use those as a fashion statement, BTW). Furthermore, faux metallic finishes always have* and always will look ugly and "cheap" - except, perhaps, in USA**

Rubberized black was and is > fake metallic silver/white
