I strongly disagree. This "the user has to work with what the device has to offer" mentality may be good enough for geeks & early adopters, but I would say that it is perfectly reasonable to assume that a new device that has PDF advertised as a capability does at least do as well with it as the previous generation.
That may not be the case, but it's perfectly understandable to think so -- Sony did not exactly advertise the new OS. For your average consumer electronics buyer there is no way to know that the old PRS-x50's ran a custom UI on Linux and the new one runs Android. Nor should it be.
And while I agree that one cannot expect miracles from such a cheap device, I wouldn't blame the OP for his bad experience. He will likely choose a different company next time and the loss is Sony's, not his.
