Yep. That pretty much sums it up. The Archive Shelf shows everything that B&N has archived for you. The only way to get rid of it is to throw the book away (delete it online).
Or you could download the book, store it on your hard drive, and delete it from you B&N archive online. If you ever wanted to read it in the future, you would have to side-load it onto your NC... but it would no longer be share-able or syncd with you other Nook apps/devices.
