I read ebooks on my PC right now. Buying a Kindle. I have ebooks in .pub format, but it is very basic. I would like to view the ebooks with the chapter headings and correct paragraphs, etc.

How can I convert the .pub books to something like Word or other format that has these features.

I am a real rookie, know nothing about ebooks.
