Obviously, a color children's book is going to look poorly on a black and white eReader. But a novel should be fine.

Could Amazon somehow go back on this? I guess. That's when our friends over at the Kindle Developer's Corner would come into play. But I'd say that the chances of Amazon reneging on its commitment for content to continue to display on older devices, including the original Kindle, are quite low.
