So, at this point I know Sony has plans to release an update for the T1 to handle automatic delivery. So I'm puzzled by two questions that will probably never be answered:

1) Why are there two firmware versions out there in the first place? And what the heck does it fix that needed to be pushed out before the planned update, but wasn't worth pushing out to the folks who got the first batch?

2) Who from Sony said "they don't want to" release the update now shipping on devices? Was it a customer service rep who has about as much knowledge as I do, or someone deeper in engineering?

I can kinda understand not wanting to release an downloadable update when you have another update around the corner (it's kinda pricy), but it's strange to ship two different firmware versions like this unless there was a last minute hardware change.

That said, since a full-flash can be done... I wouldn't be surprised if someone can dump the newer firmware and use the flashing tools used to root the T1 to apply it to a device with the older firmware. No idea if it is safe though.
