I'm just going to point you to MrsJoseph's post on why it's idiotic to share credit card info with anyone. It's not a matter of trust, it's a matter of being able to tell the bank that I did everything in my power to protect my account information, and since it got stolen
anyway they now have to help me. If I didn't do my part to keep the account info safe, they have no obligation to help me anymore.
If it makes me paranoid that I think that way, then I guess I'm paranoid. And very happy to be, since that makes me a lot less likely to join the ever-growing statistic of Americans who get their identities stolen every year. I used to wonder why that number is growing so fast, when there is so much info out there on the dangers, but there are a lot of posts in this thread that explains exactly why. You trust the strangers around your friends. That's your mistake.
