Have you considered installing the custom firmware, PRSPlus, on your Sonys (not the T1)? This will let you store a set of css files on your Sony and pick the one which suits any particular epub best. So you could store a selection with different custom fonts or different values for font-size.

Depending on the particular epub you may not need to edit it at all.

[Edit: Sorry I just referred back to your earlier post, I see you are already using it.
And it's the best there is,not only for the fonts.. sometimes I accidentally activate the dictonairy (difficult with only one year English lessons) by swiping, and I see in the new version that that now can be put off,and it's in Dutch to, but there are so much wrong epub's outside... the way I want it is: All centenses start at the beginning of the line,so no spacing, Justify off, every new chapter has to begin on a clean page, The chapter name in the middle, little bigger.
I know how to do this, but sometimes they just put the book there and there is more blank space then words, and that is not the way I want it.
And why waste space to put a 1200x1600 cover in it while the display can only show 600x800 and a whole bunch of fonts in the css, while not including one of them in the fonts dir, just assuming that I have lalalalaala.ttf on my reader.
At the end, there are not much books that I didn't had to edit with Sigil.
And a epub translated with a plugin from word are the biggest nightmares of all.
