And yeah, I hope it succeeds and lasts too - so far so good, there's 848 users registered in the last 10 days or so since I went open beta
I kinda inadvertently allowed sharing for a couple days immediately after launched (the 'detect if a book is public domain' code wasn't working yet).
It went poorly (although the press was nice
)
Right now it'll detect copyright status and set books to public or private automatically - 'public' books can be browsed by anyone on the site. I've got a few more ideas on how to improve this, but nothing implemented yet.
EDIT: hmm, epub3 does more than I thought it did. I'll make a note to look into it.
