One of my libraries only requires the library card number. I must admit I had never thought about this before.
Just because I was feeling naughty (and because I couldn't believe it would let me) I logged in with the next number up from mine and borrowed a book!! ie my number is xxxxxxx2 and I used xxxxxxx3. I still can't believe it worked.
I'm going to wait 48 hours (so I don't lock whoever they are out by an early return) and then return the book.
