We live between three major metropolitan cities -- and avoid them all. The smaller towns close to us have the stores we want (Target, Kohl's, Best Buy, etc.) but without the huge crowds. (More like Saturday sized crowds, at 7am, and it only gets a little bigger than that. We've gone into stores that are practically empty at 9 am!)

Have you done any online shopping on BF? Also, I don't know if you're aware of it, but most of the ads are leaked online before then, giving you ample time to plan your shopping so you don't have to do so on Thanksgiving.
Last year, I did all of my BF shopping online and was finished by 4am. I then spent the rest of the weekend watching videos, visiting, and relaxing. No long lines, no crowds; it was great.
