I find Kobobooks.com to be one of the most user-unfriendly sites out there- it simply cannot be compared to Amazon. The search facility on Amazon is a joy to use, which cannot be said for Kobo. I did a search for "Ian M Banks" instead of "Iain M Banks" (by mistake) on both sites. Amazon gave me a list of "Iain M Banks" (and pointed out my typo); Kobo produced a hit list of 12k+ books; presumably every thing in the catalogue beginning with "I"- including non-English books.
If these guys ever hope to compete with Amazon in the mass market they need to take some lessons in basic web site design.
While I'm at - why do I keep on getting foreign books coming up in my search? I'm British, I live in Great Britain speak and read English- why is what is supposed to be a UK store full of foreign language books? Is it some of sort of diktat from the EUSSR or is it not really a UK site?
