Yes! Curling up with a script from Shakespeare might never become my idea of a good time, but he comes alive on the stage. And, I've enjoyed reading the play afterward, before the glow has faded. (Thinking of Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet, here.)

Also, some theater productions are very witty modern adaptations. Purists dislke them, but I believe if Shakespeare were alive today, he'd applaud them.
