Because zombies, together with vampires, is not a "traditional" fear here, if you know what I mean... We believe that the undead don't exist in the flesh, instead, we strongly think that they're invisible (of course there are those who can "see" them, but that's rare). And that's what scare us to death: invisible (or partly visible) forces.

Just imagine there's some undead sitting right next to you but you don't see them... even scarier than visible zombies

That difference in fear between us originated from you being rationalist and us being idealistic
