OK, thanks very much to both of you for your help, it is very much appreciated.
First, I opened it without the SD Card, and did the clean up as suggested by Billi.
Then I opened it with the Card, and got into the Library via Favourites, as suggested by troll05, and it worked.
So we're up and running again, thank you.
PS, not for the first time, I've just been wondering, what is a "Harmloser Idiot"? Or, come to that, a "Zuhause"?
