By the way I can load books using send to from windows 7

thanks
I have a Kobo Touch and use Calibre. When I connect the KT to the computer and open Calibre, there is a delay but then a generic picture of an e-reader appears up on the top bar of Calibre which says (I think) "Connected to device". The top bar also gets a blue and white symbol that looks like a card which is called "Send to device". When you highlight a book in the Calibre library and click on the symbol, it should put the book onto the Kobo.

Having said that, I have had a few problems with the screen telling me that the book has been put on the device, but then when I eject the Kobo, the book isn't there. I have found a way round that, so post again if this doesn't work for you.
