Well, for about the same price that I would pay for some of the mp3 players people have recommended I could get an Xperia Play phone (the one with Playstation game controller). What worries me about going down that route though is battery life. My current phone (Lobster) lasts about a week if I keep the phone part switched off and just use it as a radio/mp3 player, but only about a day if I switch on the phone signal. I would guess that wifi signals would also eat into battery life. But none of the reviews of that phone say whether you can switch all that stuff off or not when you just want to use it as a media player.
