From my personal experience Palm OS devices are more reliable than Pocket PC devices. I own both and while losing data on the PPC has been a real nightmare lately, the Palm OS device just keeps on running... but do I trust the latter one? Not really. Once you've irreversibly lost some digital pictures of your last vacation you know what a lifesaver regular backups can be.
