Device: Kobo Aura and Kobo Mini, had a Nook, NOOKcolor, Nook STR.
I had problems with my epubs and the Nook Android app too. I ended up using Aldiko instead as they let you open up B&N nookbooks (you just need the credit card #) on their app and any other epub file.
