Happened to me in Tuskegee, Alabama. No lie.

First day at school, and I'm approaching the dorm where I'll be staying. One of those was on the brick wall outside. As I approached the door, he detached, and with a sickly drone that sounded like the playing cards you attach to your bicycle wheel to get that loud snapping sound, he dive-bombed me and pulled up just before strafing my head.

That was the day I formally met the Roaches from Hell. (Looking for Hell? Just visit Tuskegee in September.) I still have the marks on my arms where I dived headfirst into the brush to get away from it.
